| Vita | Didier Cossin is Professor of Banking and Finance at IMD. Professor Cossin’s areas of interest are risk assessment, pricing, and management; financial structuring with options and real options; and the application of advanced techniques, such as for assessing investments, structuring mergers and acquisitions for value creation, project financing, hi-tech valuation, and structuring joint ventures. He is also interested in the role of investment banks and the value they create for their clients. Professor Didier Cossin is currently a member of the American Finance Association, the Financial Management Association, the Eastern Finance Association, and the European Finance Association. He is a consultant or executive teacher with the United Nations, central banks, financial institutions, corporations, funds, and venture capital-based start-ups in Europe and abroad. He is the author and co-author of two books, including one of the leading books on credit risk, several book chapters, and many articles, several of which have obtained citations of excellence or other awards. Before joining IMD, Didier Cossin worked for Goldman Sachs (London, UK) and pharmaceutical company Roussel-Uclaf (Tokyo, Japan) as it was considering an initial offering on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. He has taught at Harvard University, where he obtained two Derek Bok Awards for excellence in teaching, and was associate then full professor at HEC, University of Lausanne (1993-2002). He chaired the university’s Department of Management (1995-1997); was the Director of its Institute of Banking & Financial Management (1997-2002); and was Director of the PhD in Management (1997-1999). Professor Didier Cossin holds a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University (Robert C. Merton Chair) and is a former visiting scholar (Fulbright Fellow) at the Department of Economics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). He is a former student of ENS rue d'Ulm (France) and holds master degrees from Sorbonne University and EHESS (France). Professor Cossin is member of the board of Merrill Lynch Derivative Products and member of the academic board of Fitch Investors. Professor Cossin currently holds the UBS chair in Banking and Finance at IMD. |
