Mission

The Evian Group, founded by Jean-Pierre Lehmann in 1995, is a combination of a forum, a think tank and an advocacy, promoting an open global economic agenda and responsible governance. Located in IMD and with very close ties and synergies with IMD, it has a separate jurisdictional identity – registered as an “association” in the Canton de Vaud – and budget. (see www.eviangroup.org.)

The two main distinguishing characteristics between Evian Group and IMD, is that Evian Group members and participants do not come only from business, but also from government, international organizations (World Bank, WTO, etc), NGOs (eg Oxfam), the media, with especially close ties to the Financial Times, and academe. Secondly, arising from the nature of Evian’s “constituencies” its main focus is in the public policy area as opposed to purely business matters. It is very much “real world, real learning”, but more at the macro than at the micro level.
