HR BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL

Ensuring IMD's relevance

The Business Advisory Council is comprised of senior HR leaders from IMD Corporate Learning Network companies. The council reviews IMD's teaching and research activities, discusses topics of interest and offers members a powerful peer network.

Objectives

The IMD Business Advisory Council has three principal roles:

It is a forum where HR directors and people of similar position in IMD's partner companies can get together, outside the pressure of immediate work concerns, to network and to trade points of view about common issues they may be facing. This kind of opportunity is less common than one might think, particularly at the level occupied by most of our BAC members.

At each BAC meeting the council treats, in some depth, a current topic of interest to both HR and general managers alike. IMD Faculty and speakers from industry (often themselves council members) present their research and experience, and in open conversation we look for insights and answers to the challenges member companies are facing. Topics are chosen in collaboration between council members and IMD.

The council really is an advisory body for IMD in both its research and its programs. We constantly seek input from BAC members on key trends and requirements for learning, executive development, and global leadership. We use that input in designing our teaching, informing our research, and developing our Faculty and staff.

Membership

Current members of the IMD Business Advisory Council include representatives from 171 companies from around the world. Corporate Learning Network members are invited to nominate a senior HR or leadership development executive to the council. It is one more way to ensure that member companies get maximum value from their Corporate Learning Network membership, and that IMD profits from their insights and experience.
