After 26 successful years, the name of the Managing Corporate Resources program is changing to Advanced Strategic Management (ASM): Driving Sustainable Business Results.
Why are we doing this?
“For some time now, we have been seeing a major change in the challenges facing our executive participants coming to the program,” said Advanced Strategic Management Program Director Thomas W. Malnight.
“We have already been increasingly reflecting and will continue to reflect these changes in the program content, but now we want to emphasize this effort. Simply put, the challenge facing executives today is not about ‘managing resources’ that they have inherited from the hard work of their predecessors. Rather it is about understanding and anticipating changes in a rapidly changing and uncertain environment. It is about building new resources and capabilities appropriate for the future. It is about leading through a set of aligned choices and actions over time to create and leverage strategic options that will build a sustainable business today – and tomorrow. We believe that the title Advanced Strategic Management best reflects these key objectives.”
ASM is specifically designed for executives moving into a significant leadership positions – facing the challenge of developing and executing strategies in complex environments. However, the program looks at this question in the broader context of strategic leadership, combining the visionary leadership to prepare for the future with the operational challenges of building a team and managing relationships so that your organization can create value and deliver results today as well as tomorrow. The program will also focus on developing the leader as an individual, enhancing his or her personal impact and influence to meet these challenges.
By taking part in the three-week program, executives will be able improve their view of the world, markets, industries, consumers and business as a sustainable institution. Through interactive toolkits and workbooks, we will help executives to translate learning into concrete plans and actions that reflect their own situations so they can rapidly engage their organization and team back at the office. As a result, leaders will be prepared to boost performance at the individual, team and business unit level while ensuring that the organization stays ahead in a constantly changing business environment.
Advanced Strategic Management will run three times next year: March 3 – 21, May 19 – June 6 and October 27 – November 14. Along with Professor Malnight, Professors Arturo Bris, Ben Bryant, Stuart Read, Ralf Seifert and Michael Yaziji will teach on the program.
