Adventures on the Via Ferrata

This was my first time doing any sort of climbing and the Via Ferrata website assured us that this was a beginner route, appropriate for ten year olds. Nicolas Denef (Belgium), Chia Chia Lim (Singapore), Rasmus Figenschou (Norway), Helen (partner, Norway), Oren Yehudai (Israel), Coralie Leresche (Swiss/French), Vincent (partner, Swiss) and I try out the Via Ferrata. Rasmus, Oren, Coralie, Helen & I take a well deserved break.

Tour de Southern Europe

We had apparently hit the peak of the harvesting season, so everywhere we met these tall funny looking grape-picking-machines and tractors with trailers full of grapes. In the late afternoon we found the highway back to Lausanne, had our awesome French purchases for dinner and went straight to bed. Particularly the winding road on the way up to the St Bernard mountain pass reminded me of the motorbike trip in France only a month ago.

People in the background

2009-09-23   This morning I had a phone interview with a company at 8am. I recall the comment on the Wall Street Journal's ranking of accelerated M.B.A. programs(IMD ranked No. 2): “Most respondents in The Wall Street Journal's survey of accelerated M.B.A. students gave mediocre scores to their schools' career-services efforts.

Q & A

I got myself a ‘Nasi kuning ayam merah’ which is Indonesian and/or Malay for ‘Yellow rice with red chicken’. I saw Tarantino’s latest creation ‘Inglorius basterds’ about an American Jewish hit squad working under cover in Nazi occupied France. Almost exactly one year ago this was where I met my coming classmates Henry Low (Singapore) and Sylvain Cabalery (France) for the first time.

Kicking off the second week of on-campus interview

2009-09-21   I spent a large portion of the day today prepping for an interview I have tomorrow afternoon.   Right now the campus is relatively empty of MBAs, as many students are traveling for off-campus job searches. I have been focusing my interviews on marketing positions in B2C companies, so I keep running into a small subset of the class that is targeting the same type of career.
