Our participants
PED develops fast-track individuals motivated to lead and grow their businesses in an increasingly competitive, networked and global environment.
A typical PED class has between 40 and 60 participants, representing 20 to 30 nationalities and a range of functional backgrounds and industry experiences. The average age is 40 (within a range of 33 to 45), with at least 10 years of management experience.
Your PED classmates already have significant management experience and responsibility. They share your goals of broadening knowledge across functions and business challenges, gaining leading-edge perspectives and tools, developing as leaders, and shaping an organization's future.

"As an entrepreneur running an SME, PED provided me with highly interactive, unique experiences in a ‘risk free’ environment. I got the opportunity to learn from dedicated and internationally-acclaimed Faculty, from highly-qualified and vastly experienced peers, and from a carefully designed curriculum. PED strengthens general management foundations and dives deep into self-development areas. It is perfect – even for entrepreneurs!"

"PED provides business knowledge, but it also develops leadership skills through reflection on yourself, your capabilities and your understanding of others. The key learning is to trust and develop the leader within you."

"The slogan ‘Real World. Real Learning’ encapsulates PED. There cannot be a better program which offers the opportunity to interact and learn from people working at different levels, in different industries and in different countries. PED develops you as an executive and provides the opportunity to reflect on all aspects of your life. This program has changed me forever."

"PED is an extremely valuable program for leaders transitioning into general management, as it cuts across all business disciplines, challenges your thinking and decision-making, and raises self awareness. Significant benefit comes from fellow course participants due to their varied backgrounds and global experience. The networks built through this environment provide a strong platform for on-going learning."

"PED has been the most powerful learning experience of my career so far. It combined business fundamentals with insights into my own management style and provided direction on future development areas. I was amazed by the participant interaction and the immense dedication of the program’s Faculty."

What
Are you moving from a functional role into general management with broader responsibilities? Do you need more insight into all business functions? Are you managing a global corporate project? Do you need to understand your business more deeply to improve strategic decisions and implement them? Are you ready to take the next big step in your professional development?
These are big challenges. They are not for everyone. But you can get ready for the path ahead. For three decades, PED has been paving the path to advancement for tomorrow's global leaders.
The 10-week program is split into two 5-week modules. You can take PED in one block of 10 weeks or split the modules with a break of 3 to 18 months between the two. Why 10 weeks? Because serious development requires breadth and depth. Why two modules? Because your organization depends on you, and this flexibility helps you adapt the timing to your needs.

IMD’s PED program integrates five critical business challenges, actions for leadership development, and foundations of business functions.
Create an individual learning plan with your own leadership goals. In PED you work with a coach to create a leadership learning plan based on self-assessments and other inputs, including an optional 360° developmental assessment with feedback from your own organization. First, you identify your own learning milestones. Then, throughout the program, you partner with Faculty, peers and your coach to reach them.

PED addresses five important themes for today’s businesses:
How
PED is 10 weeks of rigorous learning. It is fast paced with a broad spectrum of issues, deep content and intense interactions among peers and Faculty. Topics are brought to life through case studies, management simulations, complex negotiations, reflective assignments, outdoor exercises, role playing, guest experts and site visits.
In PED you develop your own path to high-impact leadership:
Partner program: During the last two days of PED Module 2, participants’ partners are invited to share the PED experience at IMD.
Sponsors are invited to attend class any day and to meet with the program co-directors when on campus.
Other activities:
Prepare yourself for the Executive MBA. PED constitutes the Foundation Stage of the IMD Executive MBA (EMBA). As a graduate of PED, you can apply for admission to IMD’s EMBA program.
Our Faculty
Our Faculty members are recognized world authorities in their fields. They divide their time between teaching, research and acting as consultants to international companies. They remain on top of the latest management trends.
You can expect timely, innovative learning activities, materials and content in all IMD programs.
