What

In a fast changing environment, leading and managing profitable growth is critical for the development of sustainable competitive advantage for your organization. Throughout the International Seminar for Top Executives (ISTE), IMD Faculty members will take you through the major challenges and opportunities of successfully leading and managing growth in a dynamic environment.

You will:

  • Identify opportunities to redefine the rules of the game in your industry
  • Acquire tools and concepts to manage profitable growth
  • Learn how to better mobilize your organization to get ahead of the competition
  • Gain new insights into dealing with critical business challenges
  • Develop an action plan for improving your board’s performance

How

You will gain fresh insights on the latest research from IMD’s Faculty team and guest speakers through short case studies, presentations and group discussions with your peers. IMD has designed this three-day program to provide you with the right tools and concepts that will help make your organization grow better and faster than competition.

Day 1

  • Redefining the Rules of competition for growth

This session is aimed at helping senior executives rethink their corporate strategies with fresh perspectives. We will start by examining and discussing recent global trends likely to affect your business today and tomorrow. Through small group and class discussions we will examine how these trends can help you redefine the rules of the game in your industry, and how you can use this information to rethink your own corporate strategies.

  • Smart big moves (trajectory management)

"Smart Big Moves" is about leading your business over time. It is about putting the right drivers in place to exploit business conditions, anticipating how those conditions might change and developing new capabilities for tomorrow. It's also about shaping the trajectory - with smart big moves - to win repeatedly over time.

Day 2

  • Leading your market with strong brands

Branding your own products/services is no longer an option - it is a must for your long-term success. For any business, coporate success is ultimately built on some kind of differentiation. It is increasingly difficult to differentiate your company on quality or cost alone. During this session, we will review and discuss the importance of brand strategy, the key principles for building strong brands and the implications for your company.

  • High performance leadership

While new growth strategy is important, the key to business growth today is to align strategy and organizational capabilities through leadership and people. Various recent examples of leading global firms will be used to provide you with new insights on how companies create market needs, grow their businesses and build organizational capabilities thanks to smarter people strategies.

Day 3

  • Leading change through people

Globalization of the world economy provides an excellent opportunity for companies to grow and prosper. Capabilities in change management are the essential skills that successful executives must possess. Aligning your growth strategy to the external changes and mobilizing your people to act quickly and vigorously is critical to growth today. Through case studies and in-depth discussions, we will explore how to lead change, build a high-performance culture and improve organizational effectiveness.

  • Managing Your Board More Effectively

Boards are facing increasingly tough challenges and, as a result, board members are more and more in the spotlight. In this session, you will be exposed to the essential roles of the board and the most recent relevant research on top performing boards. You will focus on working with the board to enhance long-term value creation and mitigate the risks associated with today's volatile environment.

Our Faculty

Our Faculty members are recognized world authorities in their fields. They divide their time between teaching, research and acting as consultants to international companies. They remain on top of the latest management trends.

You can expect timely, innovative learning activities, materials and content in all IMD programs.
