"It has been a great pleasure to cooperate with IMD on developing the special report: “Kazakhstan in World Competitiveness 2008”. I’d like to thank our IMD colleagues who conducted in-depth analysis of Kazakhstan’s economy and provided invaluable recommendations for further improvement. It was a privilege for us to work in the special project with such competent partners.

The special report for Kazakhstan is of great value for us as it helped us to assess the strengths and weaknesses of Kazakhstan’s economy in contrast to 55 of the most competitive countries of the world. The report provided us with a new perspective on Kazakhstan’s competitiveness and benefited both the Government and business leaders in pursuit of insightful policies and business decisions.

We are sincerely grateful for your cooperation and hope for further strengthening of our professional interactions. We strongly believe that the future of our country largely depends not only on the integration of Kazakhstan into the world economy but also on the effective cooperation of our research organizations with world institutes".

S. Nugerbekov, President
JSC Economic Research Institute under the Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan

"The Ministry of National Economy in the Sultanate of Oman’s experience with IMD started in 2000 with the introduction of Oman into world competitiveness. In 2004, IMD conducted for the Ministry a short course on competitiveness. The course was very valuable. The trainees were familiarized with the concept of competitiveness and with ways and means of measuring competitiveness and techniques of analyzing it. In addition, they were introduced to SWOT analysis. This course really improved the performance of our staff not only in competitiveness studies but also in economic analysis in general".

Mehdi Al-Abduwani, Director General of Development Planning
Ministry of National Economy, Sultanate of Oman

"Effects of IMD seminar on my work:

1- It crystallized many theoretical theories and academic perceptions, and made clear all the additives related to competitiveness.

2- It gave a functional meaning to competitiveness and case study provided me with wide scope and practical range for applications.

3- It provided logical replies to many questions, and clarified our vision towards the different angles from which everybody tends to look at facts."
