Responsible Leadership Initiative
The first IMD Responsible Leadership Summit was held from February 1-3, 2009. To conclude the event, IMD President Dr John R. Wells announced Responsible Leadership as a new IMD Initiative.

Thought Leadership Platforms
IMD has four Thought Leadership Platforms (TLPs) on some of the most critical issues facing businesses and their leaders today. As it is based on the best thinking from IMD Faculty and research combined with knowledge from its Learning Network of companies and external thought leaders, this initiative is expected to lead to a number of books, articles and events highlighting new insights relevant to executives in today's fast-moving global environment.

TLPs focus on:

Ensuring cross-functional approaches -- involving several Faculty members and research projects
Being close to our network and customers -- reflecting their issues and priorities
Staying relevant and practical -- addressing real-world issues in ways that can be used by businesses
Pushing forward the boundaries of research -- proactively investigating the challenges not only for today but for the future

TLP	Description
Executive Education: Real World. Real Learning	Bring together the collective experience of IMD's... ...Faculty to identify best practices in executive education, share this knowledge to drive innovation, and communicate these insights to our customers as well as the broader business and academic communities. As a result of this work, IMD published a book in 2005 on Mastering Executive Education
Building Global Organizations	Build on IMD's substantial experience in driving... ...forward thinking with global companies; to generate fresh and relevant insights that will help these companies to manage the challenges and complexity of building and strengthening their global organizations. As a result of this work, IMD published a book in 2007 on Managing Complexity in Global Organizations Lead Faculty Members: Ulrich Steger and Martha Maznevski
Building Execution Capabilities	Push forward IMD's collective knowledge... ...about how top management can succeed in delivering on its targets in a sustainable way, offering new insights into the what and how of execution in the real world of business. As a result of this work, IMD published a book in 2007 on Smarter Execution: Seven Steps to getting Results Lead Faculty Members: Bettina Büchel and Xavier Gilbert
Real Leadership	Bring together the disciplines of leadership... ...and strategy from both hands-on business and academic perspectives, to define what real leadership looks like at the top level of organizations. This will allow us to push forward our understanding of how organizations can build success through strategic leadership. As a result of this work, IMD published a book in 2007 on Being there when you are not: Leading through Strategy, Structures, and Systems Lead Faculty Member: Robert Hooijberg
